Pimped Elfwood Art

Here is another painting in Painter IX for a weekly "EatPoo" digital art competition. Tne task was to pimp out a crappy or amature painting from the Elfwood site into something better. I think it is a little arrogant to assume that my pimped version would be better than the original so I chose a target that was most likely painted by a younger student.

Pick It Up - No U!

Derelict made a pretty slick instrumental and rap-over of this track on his website (see: Pick It Up), and I decided to take a shot at it. This is a preview... a small clip of something that probably should never be heard by anyone under 18.

I will complete the lyrics and release a full track later.

In the meantime, please listen responsibly.

I would also like to take this time to point you to another masterful track, courtesy of Joey Honey.

San Francisco - Final Tour

Yesterday I had a wonderful tour guided by my co-worker. We hit the Palace of Fine Arts, the Exploratorium (where we volunteered to help build part of the nanoscape exhibit), the "famous crooked street", and finally Korean town in San Francisco.

Actually, the first stop was the "In and Out Burger", and I have to say that was the most delicious burger I have ever had. Unfortunately they only have chains on the west coast so take the chance if you get it. Supposedly they also have secret menu items that you can only order if you know they exist. For example, they only list a double-cheese burger, cheese burger, and hamburger but they also have an "animal-style burger" - you'll have to order that to find out what it is.

San Francisco seems to be a great place to visit, and to live in. The downtown was MADE to be enjoyed on foot... just ignore the beggars.

San Francisco - Sailing

I had some great fun today sailing out and around Alcatraz in the San Francisco bay. We headed over to "Sam's", a bar on the water with a dock built into the side of it, a place full of hot bikini-bound women who love to hang out to gold-dig rich men with large boats.

We were invited aboard a huge all-wood power-sail boat to drink and socialize with a group of 30-something socialites. It was interesting although I was at a loss with all the use of sailing terminology. Every rope and piece of the boat has a fancy name...

That's Alcatraz in the background:

San Francisco - Bootcamp

Here I am after having a delicious sandwich for lunch from a local bakery. I'm minutes away from beginning my first presentation of the week. In the next photo, I'm caught in the act of outlining the changes in architecture of some fancy shmancy software.

Subway Math

Today I bought a sandwich at Subway.

I wanted ham, turkey, and bacon.

I saw a "Ham and Turkey" sandwich for $6.29. The menu said that adding bacon costs $1.20. So I should pay $7.49.

But when I ordered it, they told me there is another sandwich called "Subway Melt" which has ham, turkey, and bacon, and it costs $7.59.

This doesn't make sense, I wasn't very happy. Why should they bother me for $0.10??

F***! Give me the f***ing sandwich I ordered ("Ham and Turkey" sandwich for $6.29), give me the f***ing bacon extra ($1.20) and don't f***ing try to sell me this "Subway Melt" s***.

She says, actually the melt is cheaper. OH really B****?

So then we got in a big fight and my mom got scared and said "You're moving with your Uncle and Auntie in Bel-Air".

I whistled for a cab, and when it came near, the license plate said fresh and there were dice in the mirror. If anything, you could say that this cab was rare but I thought, nah, forget it, "Yo homes to bel air!"

We pulled up to the house about seven or eight and I yelled to the cabbie "Yo homes, smell ya later!" I looked at my kingdom I was finally there to sit on my throne as the prince of bel-air.

Japanese Learn English + Exercise Video

Why study English or exercise separately when you can combine both activities in half the time!

TongTong shows us the genius of Zuiikan English!

Besides the mangled pronounciation, it just seems weird watching a woman getting robbed by two men with underwear on their heads and then being switched over to a scene of three way-too-cheerful cheerleaders doing jumping jacks while yelling "Take anything you want!" and "Spare me my life!"

Learn the basics before going abroad I guess?
EDIT: Ok... a couple more "WTF?!?!!" videos for you:
  • Lockin' Poppin' Rockin' Electroshockin' dancing from Japan - YouTube hosted video
  • Woooah ha Woooah ha PEACEx2 dancing from Japan - YouTube hosted video
  • Hmm... Japanese traditional music dance interpretation with the face? - YouTube hosted
  • Er... after I saw this (YouTube) I thought maybe it was a message to stop finding more videos

FIFA World Cup 2006 - Zidane

This weekend I watched the final FIFA World Cup game between France and Italy, and it was a very heated game.

The highlight of the match had to be Zidane, his team tied 1-1 and only minutes to go. After all, what better way is there to help your team win than by head-butting a member of the other team and getting red carded, leaving your team down a man?

Moral: Don't get him pissed off or he'll pound you with his head.

Watch video of the event (a rocking remix on Youtube) here. The original coverage is available here (also Youtube). Also, an article about the "graceless exit of Zidane".

And some amusing animated GIF files, showing what may or may not have been going on in peoples heads as they watched the shameful attack.

The River Gambler

Last night I went out on "The River Gambler" to enjoy the view and learn some Salsa! I have a couple moves down now, and I'm definitely interested in taking up some lessons. There were some latin guys there totally kicking ass. I never really appreciated how cool salsa is.

The fact is. in Alberta, we were not exposed to dances like this. No, we learned traditional western (country) and Canadian (french-country) dances instead.

Awkward looks and sweaty palms (some girls' hands were the clammiest, wettest things) were unfortunate parts of the forced juniour-high dancing experience, but the school dances weren't much better. Tons of wallflowers, and "dancing" really consisted of stepping left and then stepping right. Sometimes alone, sometimes with a girl a couple feet in front of you. It wasn't really dancing until the slow songs played... and then you'd be able to take it easy.

One thing that you learned quite quickly however is that you had to be careful about who you chose to dance with for those slow songs. Especially if the song in question was "November Rain" by Guns n' Roses. That song went on FOREVER! And "Stairway to Heaven" also I think.

I imagine that the youth of today are have a much better dancing experience...

Getting back on track, my education led me to know how to polka, doh-see-doh, square dance, sashay, line dance, "chicken dance", etc. I guess I did learn how to do swing also, but that was the only dance that was cool. But we never learned the hot dances like Salsa!

Lead the lady, spice up your salsa, and destroy the dance-floor!

Assuming that your city has the latin clubs that play salsa... you just have to go.
