Oilers...

Well unfortunately it's all over for the Edmonton Oilers...

The first and second periods were poor showings from our team, and it looked like they were saving their energy for later in the game. In a 2nd intermission interview, they remarked that they had yet to find their rhythm... at 2-0, they had about as much rhythm as a junior highschool kid at a Vernon Barford school dance.

There was a glimmer of hope in the first couple minutes of the third period, when the Oilers scored their first goal of the game.

Then the retardation occurred.

For some reason, the coach decided to pull the goalie (hehehe Kevin-phrase*) to try to increase the odds of scoring an equalizer. Well, HELLO!?, since when has a man advantage ever helped the Oilers score a goal? The extra man just confuses our players, or something. They perform just as well scoring-wise on a power-play for as against. Which is to say, not that great.

Perhaps it's a mixed blessing. No riots for Edmonton tonight.

So now I shift my cheering from the Oilers onto the South Korean football (FIFA soccer) team.

Go REDS!

*Sorry, inside joke. One of our friends is famous for his usage and creation of "catch-phrases"

It was sad but lets give the Oil their due...they were playing Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. It doesn't get much better than that. The took the long path to get there being the 8th place team but they made it. There are many teams wishing they were there and our Oilers were. Congratulations to the Carolina Hurricanes for their Stanley Cup win. Congratulations to the Oilers for their effort to overcome so many obstacles to get it to Game 7.

that's true... it doesn't get much better than that, though it would have been great to see the Cup back in Canada.

re: korean fan. Plastic surgery is always more appealing when covered up...

Sirdar: Agreed, but I was still riled up when I wrote that. I still think pulling the goalie wasn't a good idea.

The Korea v France game was very difficult for me, emotionally. I hate France, simply for being French, and yet I hate Korea, cause they always break my heart.

In the end, I am glad it was a tie. I just don't think I could have handled either of them winning.

Though... Korea is a pretty kickass side.

I like France because it's more fun supporting France than England.

I don't support Korea because they play too much Starcraft in Korea.

Random? Well, I'm not a soccer fan, so I have to go with what I know.

That's the best part about the World Cup: You can not know ANYTHING about soccer, and yet still support or not support a team based on history of all things!

Still pissed about WWII? F U JPN!

Korean chicks dissin you? BOO KOREA!

Argentine biotch gave you the clap BUT was fairly hot and gave you a pretty good South American cook book?

Tough call.

I thought the same thing when they lost- on the bright side, there will be no rioting on Whyte.

Korea did so well 4 years ago. Everyone wore the Reds tshirts and chanted and cheered in the streets...it was electric.

Yeah, the game was bit disappointing, but it's still amazing that they made it that far.

It does really suck that I don't have an excuse to drink lots of beer and watch TV ... or do I ...

Oh well. There's always chiptunes!

Go there and get the VSTi that emulates a NES. It's sweet. Make a song, let it repeat for hours. Doot-deet-doot-deet-doot-deeeewewewe!
