Battlefield 2 - f5 Heli Team

Today was well spent. Indesin and I took turns unleashing terror from the skies upon the infidels below. Battlefield 2 is an amazing game, and it definitely has combined some of the most successful and addictive elements found in other games. It is a multiplayer FPS at its heart, but add to that a wide array of vehicles, squad based fighting, battlefield commanders to direct overall COA strategy, and incentives for players to press ahead and not camp or lurk. Needless to say I literally spent the day engaged in this battle simulation. But, fear not, for I have something to show for my efforts.

Behold, the f5 Heli Team in action! I have produced a video in both low and high quality versions:

Download the low quality (320x240) video - encoded in DivX 5 - 35MB
Download the high quality (640x480) video - encoded in XviD - 70MB

If you are missing a codec to play the video, go here for DivX and go here for XviD. You can also find and download the necessary codecs here, at the great video resource website doom9.net. Click the "codecs" link and then choose what you need.

Indesin usually pilots and I man the machine gun turret and camera guided missles. I take my turn piloting as well, but sometimes we end upside down hurtling towards the ground. I blame my dual analog controller... I think a joystick would do a much better job. But where is the Thrustmaster of yore?? Now it seems that if you don't want a joystick that looks like some B-movie "joystick of the cyber future", then you better be prepared to open your wallet, take out a knife, cut out one of your kidneys, and then sell it on ebay - then buy a HOTAS cougar.

I loved my Thrustmaster... it was a the perfect instrument to use to utterly destroy Derelict in Descent. Also, Tie Fighter, Strike Commander, Privateer, Wing Commander. Where did all the cool flight PC-games go? I want an excuse to buy that HOTAS!

Man, that phase of reading books, playing the guitar and shunning video games didn't last long, did it?

That war game does sound cool. Can you be a cook in the army canteen? How about the office secretary?

So that guy that kept trying to TK us for the heli sure got a surprise when he found himself staring down the barrel of my M95.

I still like the guy who was like:

Is there an admin around?
IS THERE A FKING ADMIN IN HERE?!!

Hahaha what an idiot. Where is that video, should post it here since it relates.

Hmm no edit button for posts, so I can either delete it or just post again...

Good job on the videos. Now if we can somehow see into the future to know when we are going to have our wtfpwnt streaks, we can record those too.

I need to send you a couple good tracks from Juno Reactor.

Use "FRAPS" or any kind of screen capture software.

"With a camcorder", LOL!

Yeah, man, Descent was a cool game. Makes me kind of want to dig that baby up. I've been hankering (Kevin phrase!) to play some of those old games lately.

Most of those sweet old games can be found on www.the-underdogs.org, if the company hasn't blocked it.

I want to play Ultima Underworld again, but I don't want to put up with the weak graphics and clunky controls. But that game had DEPTH, man.

You might want to look at the Morrowind series. They take up where Ultima Underworld left off, and they look AMAZING!

Oh, I've played Morrowind. It is officially my favourite video game. I love the open environment, and the scenery and immersion is incredible.

When Oblivion comes out, I might have to buy a new computer. I hope they don't butcher it.

You know what pissed me off about Ultima Underworld? The fact you could lose important items forever by dropping them in the water. I dropped some stupid spider silk in the water, and only 5 levels lower did I find out I needed it to fashion dragon scale boots or something to walk over lava. Pissed me off dammit!
